Position Summary:
The Chief Academic & Institutional Integration Officer (CAIIO) is responsible for aligning Lighthouse’s shared academic infrastructure with the operational, academic, and technical environments of partner institutions. This position operates in a hybrid work environment, combining on-site and remote responsibilities.
This role is responsible for designing and advancing a high-quality, shared academic ecosystem that enables partner institutions to collaborate effectively while maintaining their distinct missions.
The CAIIO leads the development and execution of the consortium’s academic network strategy, establishing scalable frameworks that support cross-institutional course and program sharing.
With a focus on innovation and alignment, the CAIIO ensures that all academic offerings reflect Lighthouse’s core commitments to mission preservation, financial sustainability, academic integrity, collaborative infrastructure, and responsible growth. As a key member of the Lighthouse Leadership Team, the CAIIO partners closely with institutional leaders and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Essential Functions:
The responsibilities for the CAIIO include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Institutional Academic Relationship Management
- Serve as primary academic liaison to Provosts, Deans, and academic leadership at partner institutions
- Lead academic onboarding and ongoing alignment conversations
- Support institutions in integrating Lighthouse courses into their degree programs
- Ensure all engagement reinforces governance preservation (institution retains full academic authority)
- Course Deployment & LMS Integration
- Oversee deployment of Lighthouse courses into partner LMS environments or Lighthouse-hosted LMS
- Ensure course shells meet institutional standards (QA, accessibility, structure)
- Coordinate with internal and institutional tech teams on:
- LMS configuration
- Grade passback
- Term readiness
- Establish repeatable deployment playbooks
- Course Crosswalks & Program Mapping
- Lead development of course equivalency crosswalks between Lighthouse courses and institutional curricula
- Work with academic leadership to align courses to:
- Degree requirements
- General education frameworks
- Program-specific pathways
- AI-assisted crosswalk generation
- Predictive course demand modeling
- Document and standardize crosswalk methodologies across institutions
- Course Scheduling & Registration Architecture
- Assist institutions in designing scheduling models that incorporate Lighthouse courses Support development of:
- Term calendars
- Section planning
- Capacity modeling
- Contribute to design of scalable registration workflows across institutions
- Data Integration & Institutional Reporting
- Support development of data-sharing frameworks between Lighthouse and partner institutions
- Ensure alignment with:
- FERPA
- Institutional data governance policies
- Coordinate with technical teams on:
- Data pipelines
- Reporting structures
- Dashboard outputs
- Help define KPI frameworks for academic performance and course utilization
- Academic Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee academic QA processes across the shared course library
- Ensure courses remain current, compliant, and aligned with workforce relevance
- Coordinate periodic course reviews and updates
- Automate QA audits
- Work with AI-driven tools to identify content gaps and improvement opportunities
- Faculty & Credential Coordination Support
- Support institutions in faculty alignment for Lighthouse-delivered courses
- Assist with credential documentation workflows where applicable
- Ensure alignment with accreditor expectations
- Internal Product & Infrastructure Development
- Act as the “academic product owner” for Lighthouse offerings
- Provide input into:
- New course development priorities
- Program expansion strategy
- Platform enhancements
- Translate institutional needs into scalable solutions
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the Christian mission of the Lighthouse Consortium
- An earned doctorate
- Significant (10+ years) online teaching and administrative experience
- Experience with accreditation and compliance
- Experience building or leading academic partnerships or consortia
- Course development experience in Canvas learning management system
- Excellent communication skills
