New Deal Speeds Path to Bluefield Business Degree

by | Sep 8, 2025

High school students in Mercer Co., W. Va. are now eligible to carry up to 15 hours of business coursework into Bluefield University, giving them a faster and more affordable path to a degree.

Seniors who complete designated business courses may apply this year to Bluefield and transfer those credits directly into their degree program. Students in lower grades can also begin the pathway, ensuring their coursework will count once they graduate.

Starting college with 15 credits already completed puts students closer to a bachelor’s degree and makes Bluefield’s accelerated “3+1” program even faster. That track enables participants to finish both a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration in four years.

The agreement covers courses in accounting, personal computers, personal finance, introduction to business, and entrepreneurship, with grades of C or better required.

To receive credit, students must apply for admission to Bluefield University and submit an official high school transcript documenting the coursework. Credits are recorded as passing and applied toward graduation requirements in Bluefield’s undergraduate business programs.

Applications are being accepted now for upcoming terms. More information is available by calling the Office of Admissions at 800-872-0175 or by applying online at apply.bluefield.edu.
