Assistant/Associate Professor – Education

The School of Education and Social Sciences at Bluefield University is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in Education for an on-campus faculty position. Responsibilities will include teaching in the traditional and online undergraduate teacher preparation programs, advising students at the undergraduate level, and placing/supervising students at public PreK-12 schools for field experience and student teaching practicums.  Candidates are expected to provide service to the university, the School of Education and Social Sciences, and the profession.  Specific teaching assignments for this position include teaching education courses in online, face-to-face, and hybrid formats; advising students; and supervising student teachers. Additional duties will include serving on faculty committees and recruiting students at in-person open-house events and virtual avenues.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate or an earned master’s degree in education, an active teaching license as a teacher, and evidence of effective teaching at the PreK-12 level and at the university level. Candidates who are hired at the master’s degree level should demonstrate a plan for completing the doctoral degree. Candidates must have the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, as well as work within Virginia Department of Education Licensure regulations and the Council for Accreditation of Teacher Preparation (CAEP) accreditation guidelines.

Preferred candidates will have recent secondary, special education, and/or reading teaching experience, experience in teaching online courses, and experience in developing courses for assessed needs. Preferred candidates will also be required to demonstrate facility with classroom technology as well as utilization of online applications.

The individual must be a committed Christian and have the ability to integrate faith and learning, foster critical and creative thinking, work cooperatively within the campus community to advance the mission of the college, and demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching.
