Bluefield University Goes Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

by | Sep 15, 2025

Bluefield University is going gold this Wednesday, September 17, to commemorate Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear gold or yellow to honor those affected by childhood cancer and their families.

The university will host its weekly Chapel service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning in Harman Chapel. This week’s speaker is Christian influencer and childhood leukemia survivor Alexander Delias.

Afterward, the campus community is invited to lunch in the quad, featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, and yellow foods. For a $1 donation, students and employees can participate in dart board, basketball, putt-putt, and trivia challenges to raise money for the TJ Rasnick Foundation. They can also paint handprints and write the names of friends and loved ones affected by childhood cancer on our Go Gold banner.

Finally, the Rams community is invited to wear gold and advocate for childhood cancer awareness as the women’s and men’s soccer teams compete against the University of Pikeville that evening. The soccer matches begin at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at East River Soccer Complex in Bluefield, WV.
