Bluefield University is celebrating dozens of altar call responses, professions of faith, and baptisms during its 34th annual Duremdes Christian Emphasis Week, held September 22-26, 2025. Twenty-seven people were baptized during the worship night on Thursday, including twelve pre-planned and fifteen spontaneous baptisms.
The week emphasized the university’s theme for the academic year, “Bold,” based on 2 Corinthians 3:12. “Bold Week” featured a fellowship night on Wednesday, worship night on Thursday, and outreach activities on Friday.
The campus community engaged with guest speaker and Reach1 founder Markus McFolling during three Chapel services. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a prayer drive-through and prayer walks on Friday afternoon.
“We are in awe of all that God has done on our campus the past couple weeks and especially during Bold Week,” said Campus Pastor Mason West. “God used Markus to really speak to the heart of our campus, and our student body really gained a deeper sense of what it looks like to truly live boldly in faith. Our desire is to continue to build up and disciple these students that desire to be a bold generation for Jesus.”
Though “Bold Week” has ended, believers on-campus have several opportunities to explore their faith, such as the student-led Home worship service on Monday night and Chapel service on Wednesday morning. The university also has “Roots” discipleship groups, the “Impact” community service team, “Missions Club” evangelism teams, and on-campus Bible studies.
