Bluefield University Announces Tuition Reduction

by | Apr 26, 2024

As average tuition rates rise nationwide, understanding the real cost of education has become more complex. Navigating tuition charges, fees, and on-campus housing costs in addition to scholarship, loan, and grant opportunities can be challenging and overwhelming.

As part of our ongoing commitment to making higher education affordable and accessible, Bluefield University is proud to announce we are reducing our tuition rate and restructuring our scholarship model for our on-campus undergraduate degree programs. With these changes, we hope to offer new students a streamlined admission process and current students a simplified student account.

“For over 100 years Bluefield University has created opportunities for generational transformation by maintaining a commitment to quality education that is affordable and accessible. This tuition change continues that commitment,” said Dr. Michael Salmeier, Interim President & Provost.

Down more than 10 percent from the 2023-2024 academic year, on-campus tuition for 2024-2025 has been reduced to $24,950. Fees were also reduced by nearly 10 percent per academic year. Additionally, on-campus residents will enjoy rate decreases of up to $334 compared to 2023-2024. These costs can be further minimized or even eliminated through a combination of institutional and outside tuition assistance opportunities.

“Access and affordability are just some reasons students give for not attending college,” explained Karl Hatton, Vice President for Admissions & Student Development. “The steps taken in reducing the cost to attend Bluefield University will help address some of these barriers for students that can hinder them from achieving all they are meant to be.”

Incoming students with questions about these changes are encouraged to speak with their admissions counselor. Our Bluefield Central staff are available for returning students who have questions about these adjustments.
