Tuition Exchange Program
Bluefield University participates in five tuition exchange and discount programs that provide the opportunity for eligible full-time employees, dependant children, and spouses to receive undergraduate and graduate scholarships or discounts at participating member institutions. The respective tuition exchange and discount programs can be reviewed at the following websites for information on the application process and program eligibility requirements:
- The Appalachian College Association Tuition Discount Program
- The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities Tuition Waiver Exchange Program
- The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Tuition Exchange Program
- International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities Tuition Exchange Program (IABCU)
- The Tuition Exchange
As a participating institution in the various tuition exchange and discount programs, Bluefield University has established the following guidelines to complement the tuition exchange and discount program eligibility requirements.
Full-time employees (.5 FTE to 1.0 FTE) who have completed the first 90 days of service may apply for employee, dependent, and/or spouse participation in the tuition exchange and discount programs. If an employee wishes to apply for an exception to the 90 days of service requirement and submit an application to a tuition exchange or discount program for substantiating reasons, a petition requesting consideration may be submitted to the Provost and President.
It is the employee’s responsibility to research the importing institution’s admissions-qualified applicant requirements for the respective tuition exchange and discount program. Bluefield University will expedite its review of the application documents in processing the institutional sponsorship of a qualified applicant.
Certification and sponsorship by Bluefield University for participation in a tuition exchange and discount program do not guarantee acceptance by an importing institution or ensure a scholarship offer.
The Tuition Exchange program is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity that can be competitive for entry into the importing institution. Bluefield University may limit the number of exporting applications given the reciprocity expectations as a member institution. As a result, Bluefield University will consider the tenure of eligible employees when processing their applications.
