David accepted the call to become the ninth president of Bluefield College in July 2007. He is a native of Maryville, Tennessee, and the son of a retired Baptist minister. David received his Bachelor of Science degree in business management at Tennessee Technological University, his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Tennessee College of Law, and his Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Kathryn and David have been married 31 years and are proud parents of their adult children Kayla and Will. He chairs the Appalachian Athletic Conference, is a member on the Council of Presidents of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics,  serves on the executive committees for the Virginia College Fund, and is on the GO Virginia Region One Council. He is past chair of the Council of Independent Colleges of Virginia, the International Association of Baptist Colleges & Universities, and the Appalachian College Association. David is also a member of the Rotary Club of Bluefield, West Virginia.

Early College students,

Congratulations! You have elected to enroll in an online, college-level course. Each course is different in its requirements involving theory, application, depth of reflection, and research. Occasionally, the title of a course has been chosen to broadly describe the course content. As an Early College student, you may need to communicate with the instructor to discuss your ability to meet the course’s requirements within the first two days of the course, within the drop/add period. This allows you time to select another option if you believe the course requirements are beyond your current level of learning.

Your grades will be final and appear on your Bluefield College transcript, so it is important that you do your best.

If you have a learning disability, it is important that you communicate that with our Associate Director of Academic Support, Mr. Wayne Pelts, prior to your classes starting. Mr. Pelts will need documentation in order to offer any accommodations. You may reach Mr. Pelts at wpelts@bluefield.edu.
