BU Alumna To Hold Book Signing Event At Bluefield University

by | May 15, 2019

Bluefield University alumna Martha Dodd-Slippy recently released her book entitled “To Real Estate Agents and Brokers, Volume One, Homicide and Other Subjects You Slept Through in Class.” A book signing event will take place on Friday, May 24 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Easley Library at Bluefield University.

Bluefield University alumna Martha Dodd-Slippy recently published a book entitled “To Real Estate Agents and Brokers, Volume One, Homicide and Other Subjects You Slept Through in Class.” In January 2018, Dodd-Slippy realized exactly what she wanted to write about and started writing. Her book was published in March of 2019. She says that the number one cause of real estate agent death on the job is homicide. Her book contains interviews from documented events of victims that dealt with fraud, shootings, homicide, and even murder.

In her book, there are “many learning tools and observations needed for those in and out of the business. Buyers and sellers will learn why we ask and insist on answers of primary questions. Those not in buying, selling, or agents will find stories of additional interest, such as those in banking and attorneys,” said Dodd-Slippy.

On Thursday, May 23 Dodd-Slippy will be interviewed about her book on the “Live at Five” segment with  news anchor Melinda Zosh on WVVA’s 5 p.m. newscast. On Friday, May 24 at 9 a.m. she will also be featured as a special guest to discuss her book on the “Radio Active” show on WHIS radio station, which can be found on the dial at 1440 AM. A book signing event will also take place on Friday, May 24 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Easley Library at Bluefield University.

Fifty-one percent of the books net profits will be donated to several organizations. These include: Bluefield University, Family Violence/Sexual Assault Unit, Independence United Methodist Church, Nehemiah Community Outreach, and Southside American Red Cross.

For more information about the book or to purchase a book, attend the book signing on Friday, May 24 in Easley Library at Bluefield University or email [email protected]. The book is also available to purchase online at Amazon.com.
