Assistant Athletic Trainer

Responsibilities include supervision of care for student-athletes competing in Bluefield College athletic programs through prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and documentation of athletic injuries, supervision of student athletic trainers, as well as other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine and the Director of Athletics. This is a full-time, ten-month position. Some night and weekend coverage, as well as some travel is required of the position. The specific sport assignment(s) will vary and will be determined by the Director of Sports Medicine. There are multiple positions open.


Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree required, BOC Certified and in good standing; Virginia Licensure required or eligible (must be licensed by start date); West Virginia Licensure required or eligible (must be licensed by start date); experience working in collegiate athletics preferred; NPI Number required; and CPR and AED certification is required on a professional level.

Required Skills:

Applicants must have experience with injury tracking software, concussion management protocol, ImPACT testing or Scat 5 testing. Applicants are also required to have experience implementing rehabilitation programs and evaluation of injuries.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye. The operation of vehicles and the transportation of athletes are

duties that are required at various times. Tasks such as working at a computer which involves extensive wrist and hand movements are also required.
