PRIMARY PURPOSE/SCOPE
Reporting to the Dean of Students and the VP for Student Development and Athletics, the Director of Student Activities and Career Services will work with student leaders and organizations to direct all aspects of campus wide student activities. The Director will demonstrate the ability to work independently, as well as, collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators and staff. A flexible work schedule will include days, evenings and some weekends.

Partnering in the education of our student body, the Student Activities Director and Career Services fosters purposeful, life-changing learning and holistic development in a Christ-centered environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBLITIES, AND FUNCTIONS
The essential duties, responsibilities, and functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Plans and administers campus-wide student activities.
2. Ability to work a flex work schedule including nights and weekends as needed.
3. Oversees publicity of events, including the use of social media for publicity and promotion of all events.
4. Manage vendor contracts for visiting groups.
5. Oversees the Student Union Board, including the budget.
6. Supervise and provide oversight to Greek Life.
7. Coordinate New Student Adventures, Homecoming, Welcome Back Week and other major campus events.
8. Work with ESS department to secure interns for intramural sports program and ensure the University maintains a comprehensive intramural program.
9. Maintain website information with dates and events, including social media.
10. Develop, conduct, and communicate results from regular assessment of programs and services provided through Student Activities and Campus Events.
11. Interprets University policies to employees and enforces safety regulations.
12. Complies with all rules, policies, and procedures as established by Bluefield University.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Specific Career Services duties include:
1. Provide career counseling and advisement services for students and help them determine their educational, vocational and personal objectives.
2. Help students identify, mitigate and/or remove whatever factors exist as impediments to possible success in the areas of academic, vocational and/or personal achievements.
3. Participate in new student orientation, classroom presentations, assessment interpretations and outreach activities.
4. Assist students with the development of an educational plan.
5. Help student’s develop interview and resume writing/building skills.
6. Organize annual graduate/job fair in cooperation with ACE.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS
This position has no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree required. Knowledge of higher education is strongly preferred; Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; Well-developed presentation skills are required; Goal oriented and intrinsically motivated with superior customer service and networking skills; Facility with MS Office Suite and the Internet as a tool; Ability to manage student files and data entry via the Jenzabar system; Ability to build relationships with students and provide activities and career counseling in order to offer the best program fit for students. Business attire and personal presentation required daily.

the duties, responsibilities, and functions. This position has no specific working conditions; the work environment is typical to that of a small private residential institution of higher education, with physical remote site locations within 500 miles of the main campus in Bluefield, Virginia.
