BLUEFIELD, Va. — Bluefield University hosted First Lady of Virginia Suzanne S. Youngkin on Thursday, October 23, 2025, for a presentation about the fentanyl crisis and the Commonwealth’s awareness and prevention campaign, “It Only Takes One.”
The statewide public education initiative aims to combat the fentanyl crisis by raising awareness, promoting conversations, and providing individuals with life-saving information. The campaign’s message emphasizes that one pill, one vape, or one laced joint can be fatal, but one conversation or one caring person can help prevent tragedy.
As a Christ-centered institution, Bluefield University seeks to engage the world’s challenges with truth and compassion. The institution’s mission calls it to prepare students for lives of service and leadership grounded in faith, and hosting this important discussion reflects that commitment to care for the well-being of students and the broader community.
