by | Feb 24, 2026

Chelsea Boothe was named a Presidential Scholar by Bluefield University at the scholarship competition on Saturday, February 21, 2026. As one of two honorees, Chelsea was offered a full-tuition award renewable for up to four years.

Chelsea is a native of Tazewell, Virginia. She is dually enrolled at Tazewell High School and Southwest Virginia Community College, and she was named to SWCC’s Honors List in the fall of 2025. When she comes to BU this fall, she plans to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts in English program, concentrating in Pre-Law.

As a member of the Distributive Education Clubs of America, Chelsea has served as Secretary of her local chapter, been awarded at district competition, and competed at the state level. She also volunteers with community service clubs at Tazewell High, including the Interact Club and the Commonwealth Alliance for Drug Rehabilitation and Education.

Those who recommended Chelsea described her as diligent, loyal, and kind. They commended her perseverance, professionalism, and drive.

BU’s Presidential Scholarship recognizes exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and character. Incoming freshmen may compete for the award by submitting an essay, two letters of recommendation, and an academic resume. These students then participate in an on-campus interview, where they may be selected as one of two annual honorees.
