Bluefield, VA – Bluefield University is accepting nominations for the 9th Annual Dr. Donna Watson Goodness and Light Alumni Award. Recipients will be honored on Friday, October 16, as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend and the Education Department’s 50th Anniversary Alumni Reunion.
After bidding farewell to Dr. Donna Hardy Watson at the close of the 2016-2017 academic year, Bluefield University took steps to ensure that her legacy would remain by creating the Dr. Donna Watson Goodness and Light Alumni Award.
Created collaboratively by the School of Education and Social Sciences and the Office of Alumni Relations, the Goodness and Light Alumni Award is designed to recognize teacher education graduates who are having a positive impact in our schools and classrooms. The award is given annually to recognize alumni who embody Dr. Watson’s mantra of spreading goodness and light in education.
This year, the award is being extended to recognize alumni in all areas of the School of Education and Social Sciences. Nominations are being accepted for alumni of the undergraduate teacher education, early childhood education, and psychology and human services programs, as well as the graduate counseling programs.
Bluefield University alumni and friends are invited to celebrate Dr. Watson’s contributions to Bluefield University and the presentation of the 9th annual Goodness and Light Alumni Award on Friday, October 16 at 4 p.m. in room 101 of Easley Library.
