BLUEFIELD, Va. — Bluefield University’s Board of Trustees voted at its fall meeting to keep tuition unchanged for on-campus undergraduate students in 2027–2028, extending a freeze on the rate the university lowered by more than 10 percent for 2024–2025.
The university reduced traditional undergraduate tuition between the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 academic years and has kept that lower rate in place.
Over roughly the same period, prices nationwide have climbed. U.S. consumer prices rose approximately 9.5 percent between September 2023 and September 2026, based on Consumer Price Index data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The tuition freeze supports Bluefield’s Christ-centered mission by helping students and families plan for college with greater certainty about tuition costs.
Institutional aid awards for 2027–2028 have not yet been announced. For 2026–2027, qualifying on-campus undergraduate students could have their tuition fully covered through a combination of institutional aid, the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG), and a full Federal Pell Grant. Housing, meal plans, and university fees are additional.
Prospective students can receive a personalized estimate by applying to the university for free and completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
