The College of Arts and Letters at Bluefield College employs a rich array of interrelated approaches for understanding and appreciating other times, places and cultures.

Our students ask the searching questions that the Humanities endeavor to address. Through creative experiences of performance, art, writing, appreciation of literature and the arts, investigations into history, and inquiries into belief stimulated by Philosophy and Christian Studies, we celebrate centuries of human accomplishments in the realms of the aesthetic, the intellect, and the spirit. Students and professors together seek an understanding of the complex beauty of human experience.

It is the writer’s “privilege,” said William Faulkner in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, “to help man endure by lifting his heart, by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past.” It is the privilege of the College of Arts and Letters at Bluefield College to inspire students to understand and articulately reflect upon these truths. We invite you to join us.
