Bluefield University hosted nearly 400 middle and high school students for its annual Winter Blast event, Saturday, January 17, through Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Organized by Ski Celebration, Winter Blast is held each year during Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. Participants engage in two days of skiing at Winterplace in Ghent, WV, and two worship sessions on the Bluefield University campus.
Worship leaders for the weekend included BU students Erin Bowers, Ben Campbell, Amelia Garrett, Ashlyn Newman, Ethan Richardson, and Carly Wright. Additionally, student volunteers, led by Savannah Riley, assisted with set-up, operations, and hosting.
Josh Crawford of Passion City Church in Atlanta, GA, returned as the speaker for the third consecutive year. Drawing from Luke 9 and 1 John, Crawford urged attendees to consider how their belief about who Jesus is should shape the way they live and act.
High school students were also encouraged to complete an application for Bluefield University and inquire about its new snowsports program.
