Beginning with registration at 9 a.m. and featuring a financial aid session, an academic and student organizations fair, an admissions session, campus tours, and the opportunity to meet faculty and current students, the Winter Open House is designed to expose prospective students to the full Bluefield College experience.
“Our admissions team is excited to host prospective students and their families on campus for Winter Open House,” said BC’s Evan Sherman, director of traditional admissions. “We already have a great group of students registered for the event, but spots are still available for late registrants.”
Following a welcome assembly at 9:30 a.m., all participants are invited to an admissions session at 10 a.m. to learn more about the admissions process and requirements for admission to BC. At 10:30 a.m., parents and families will attend a financial aid workshop to find out more about the financial aid process and the grants and scholarships available to students, while the prospective students take part in a BC 360 session featuring a Q&A forum with current students and faculty.
The Winter Open House will also feature an Academic and Student Organizations Fair at 11 a.m. showcasing the college’s 41 academic offerings, including business, teacher education, communications, exercise and sports science, criminal justice, forensic science, Christian studies, fine arts, and graphic communication, just to name a few. The Fair will also showcase the school’s service, academic, outdoor, athletic and other student organizations, as well as its 15 intercollegiate sports teams, including men’s baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis and volleyball; women’s basketball, cheerleading, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.
Following the Fair, prospective students and their families will take part in tours of the BC campus, including the school’s newest residence facility, Bluestone Commons, a modern, independent-living apartment complex; computer labs and SMART classrooms with high-tech presentation devices; and the Student Activities Center and its Quick Shott Cafe.
“Our Open House events provide an excellent opportunity for interested students and their families to discover Bluefield College,” said Sherman, “and to meet our faculty and staff, tour our facilities, and see if Bluefield College is the right fit for them.”
The day will conclude with lunch in BC’s dining hall at 12:30 p.m. along with more time to share with BC admissions and financial aid counselors.
