Masterworks rehearsals will take place on Mondays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the lower level of Harman Chapel, room 103, beginning Monday, August 24 and continuing through Monday, November 30 in preparation for the group’s performance as part of Bluefield College’s “Christmas at Bluefield” musical, theatrical and multimedia production, Friday and Saturday, December 4-5.
Directed by Dr. Benjamin Thorburn, assistant professor of music at Bluefield College, the Masterworks Chorale combines the talents of BC students and community singers in performing renowned classics of sacred and secular choral music. Membership in Masterworks is open to anyone, and no audition is required. Singers are encouraged to have familiarity with music notation, but are not required to be affiliated with Bluefield College.
“Our music for the fall semester is Conrad Susa’s ‘Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest,’” said Dr. Thorburn. “It is a beautiful set of arrangements of traditional Spanish-language carols.”
