Bluefield College is hosting two art shows for the community, now through October 28, featuring regional artists Aaron Benson and Kelsey Roberts.
The Benson sculptural show, “Reclaiming Creation,” is on display at the Bea Paine Gallery inside the Bluefield Arts Center in downtown Bluefield, West Virginia, while Roberts’ painting, “Reflections,” are on exhibit on the BC campus in the school’s Cox Visual Arts Center.
Benson, a sculptor, is a senior art major at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Influenced by his exposure to nature growing up in the mountains of the eastern United States, Benson incorporates nature into his sculpture pieces. By using such dimensions as fire, paint, or patina, he adds to nature’s original art forms to produce pieces that intrigue all audiences.
Roberts, a painter, recently earned an art degree from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. She is best known for her paintings of people, figures, or portraits on canvas “stemmed from emotive color use,” but recently completed a body of work informed by her “childhood adventures at Grandpa’s farm, depicting a world that is contrastingly enormous and intimate.”
Both of the art shows hosted by the college are open and free to the public. For more information, please e-mail [email protected]
