Art Department Work-study

Primary Job Responsibilities

The art and design department work-study performs a variety of duties throughout the year. For art history classes, they will assist in finding images for lectures. For department publicity, they might work on brochures and postcards, and make copies for mailing. They assist in setting up 2-4 workshops per year. they assist in research from the library. They assist in hanging the fall and spring art show and help with the art department’s annual Christmas and May art sale. For the ceramic area, they might mix and prepare glazes, clean kiln shelves, reclaim clay, cut wood for pottery boards, and cut plastic as needed. For the art area, they might assist in keeping the art room clean by putting chairs, easels, tables, etc. in the proper places. They also assist in rearranging the art room to accommodate new classes each semester. They assist in the construction of art room projects such as building painting racks, pottery shelves, etc., and work on helping maintain the building and area around the art building. They work on other projects as needed.
