What graduates say about the Language, Literature and Communications Division at Bluefield College
“My senior English seminar class that placed an emphasis on literary criticism helped me to get through my graduate class in Literary Scholarship.”
Leslie Bratton, class of 2002, graduate student in English, Radford University
“I learned about many contemporary and minority authors in
addition to building a strong foundation in the typical English canon. My
writing also improved with the helpful feedback from my professors and the
creative writing classes that I took while a student at BC.”
Danielle Anderson, class of 2002, M.A. in English, Virginia Tech
“My professors brought the works of the great authors to life while inspiring and nurturing the author within me. And though I received a tremendous education, my experience did not seem to be unique among English majors at Bluefield College. I found the faculty to be committed to the success of each of my peers as well.”
Bobbi Stroupe, class of 1995, copywriter, Deloitte and Touche
At Bluefield College I learned the basics of my field in survey courses while still being challenged to explore my own ideas and writing style in upper-level courses. The small class sizes and individual attention I received also prepared me for graduate school at a major research university.
April Conley Kilinski, class of 1995, writing her dissertation on female authors from India, Africa and the Caribbean at the University of Tennessee.
