MUS 1311 Masterworks Chorale
This chorus combines the talents of both college and community voices and specializes in large-scale musical works and projects. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Masterworks is open to anyone in the area without audition and is always seeking new members. The Chorale presents large scale classical works and performs twice a year as part of the Bluefield College Performing Arts Series. The group participates in the Southwest Virginia Community College Fine Arts Festival and in the Bluefield Ministerial Alliance Holy Week Services.
MUS 1331 Bluefield Singers
This choir performs classical, folk and contemporary church music, meets on Tuesdays and Thursday at 2:30-3:45, and is made up of students of all majors. "Singers" specializes in contemporary Christian music and also incorporates scenes from Broadway shows into the Spring Choral Gala. There is no audition for this choir. All Bluefield College students must earn three fine arts credits to graduate and many sing in Bluefield Singers to obtain those credits. "Singers" is very active in the Bluefield area, singing frequently at local churches and at such in-house activities as the Homecoming Banquet, alumni dinners, open houses, and many other on-campus events. The choir also performs often as part of the college's weekly convocations.
MUS 1371 Variations
An auditioned, mixed ensemble that performs on campus and also tours each year. Variations is very active in the Bluefield area. The choir performs works from the Renaissance to the present, from both classical and popular genres. It is open to all students at Bluefield College, regardless of major. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester. Variations takes a six-day tour each spring. Tour stops include all parts of Virginia (including Bristol, Richmond, Roanoke, Virginia Beach, and the Washington D.C. area), plus Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and West Virginia. The group has also sung for the Baptist General Assembly of Virginia, and the West Virginia State Evangelism Conference.
MUS 1351 Women’s Chorus
A chorus consisting of only female voices.
MUS 1391 Praise Singers
The newest addition to the ensemble groups at Bluefield College, the Praise Singers are an auditioned ensemble that performs contemporary Christian music.
