Bio

Shellie Brown serves as assistant professor of education and Director of Teacher Education for the School of Education and Social Sciences. She brings ten years of teaching experience to Bluefield College. She served as a general education inclusion teacher in grades second, third, and fifth and in Title I for grades K-5 at Cedar Bluff Elementary School.

After graduating in the first master’s of education program at Bluefield College, Mrs. Brown served as an adjunct instructor in the Education Department at Bluefield College, teaching online classes to undergraduates as well as math recertification courses to elementary and middle school teachers in Tazewell County for two years prior to coming to Bluefield as an assistant professor.

Mrs. Brown believes that learning should be fun, and that teaching is a work of the heart. She teaches field experience, methods, and technology courses as well as supervises student teachers. She is currently working toward her EdD in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Special Education. Mrs. Brown is also the wife of a pastor and the mother of two boys.
