SAT and ACT test scores play an important role in the college admissions process.

You will want to study hard to make sure you do the best you can. A few tips for preparing and taking the SAT and ACT are listed below. Good luck!

SAT and ACT Test Preparation Tips
  1. Start early! Find out how much time there is before test day so you can put together a study plan. Use this time to start studying the subjects covered on the test.
  2. Check to see if your school offers tutoring or test preparation classes. Practicing for the test is the best way to prepare.
  3. There are many sample tests available online. Use these, at the very minimum, to help prepare you for the SAT or ACT exams. Visit the Khan Academy for Official SAT Test Preparation, practice plans, and instant feedback.
SAT and ACT Test-Taking Tips
  1. Relax and be confident that you will do well on the test.
  2. Do not spend too much time on one question. The ACT and SAT exams are timed tests, so try to answer the easier questions first, and then go back to the harder ones.
  3. On the SAT exam, if you do not believe you know the correct answer to a question, do not guess. You will lose points for an incorrect answer, but not for an answer left blank.
  4. Get at least eight hours of sleep on each of the two nights before the test. You will want to be alert and ready to do your best!
  5. On the morning of the test, eat a healthy breakfast with plenty of protein and carbohydrates. That way, you are nourished and focused.
  6. Arrive at the testing site at least 20 minutes early to avoid any unnecessary rushing. That gives you time to choose your seat and get organized.
