Additional Information:

02.21.12  -- 03:00 PM

Power has been fully restored on campus and soon with it all facility and IT services, including heat, food, MyBC, and e-mail.

While power has been fully restored, e-mail and MyBC services will be disrupted temporarily to allow the IT Department to undo the interim measures put in place earlier today. Permanent restoration of e-mail and MyBC should occur around 4:00 PM.

If you continue to experience problems with electricity, heat, MyBC, e-mail or any other service lost as a result of the power outage, please let us know by e-mailing .

02.21.12  -  06:30 AM

Bluefield College will be closed, Tuesday, February 21. Power remains out on campus with no heat or MyBC service.

On-campus students are encouraged to continue to stay in contact with RHDs and RAs for contingency plans related to heat and housing. Limited food service remains available in Shott Hall.

Students who are scheduled to submit assignments through MyBC are encouraged to contact their professor directly by e-mail regarding those assignments.

The word from the power company is that BC continues to be a priority in their power restoration projects. As soon as we learn more about the status of the return of power, we will communicate to the campus community.

Please see the "Classes Cancelled/College Closed" section of the college's Inclement Weather Policies and Procedures for more details: www.bluefield.edu/campus-resources/class-cancellations/inclement-weather-procedure.

02.20.12 - 09:45 PM

Power and Heat

As of 9:45 p.m., Monday, February 20, power is still partially out on campus, affecting Lansdell Hall, the Science Center, Shott Hall, Cruise Hall, and East River Hall. American Electric Power (AEP) has made BC a priority on its list of restoration projects, but at the same time they are dealing with about 90 major problems in Tazewell County alone. Their best estimate is that power will hopefully be restored no later than sometime tomorrow. On-campus students are encouraged to contact their RHD or RA about contingency plans related to housing.

E-mail and MyBC

As of 9:45 p.m., Monday, February 20, temporary changes were made to power and technology equipment by BC's IT Department to make e-mail service available. Please note, as e-mail service is restored, old messages sent on Monday about class delays may be delivered. Please pay close attention to dates in all RamAlerts and power outage updates.

Class Delays

As of 9:45 p.m., Monday, February 20, classes for Tuesday, February 21 have not been canceled. Watch for future notices through RamAlert and BC e-mail, on the BC web site, and with local TV stations for information regarding Tuesday and future classes.
