Outdoor Activities at Bluefield College

You may never see a location any more beautiful than Bluefield’s.

Tucked away in the Appalachian Mountains, we’re right around the corner from great canoeing, kayaking, fishing, snow skiing/boarding, rappelling, white-water rafting, rock climbing, and hiking. Is it any wonder that the Outdoor Club is one of the most popular clubs on campus?

Winterplace Ski Resort is 38 miles north of Bluefield and provides 90 acres of fast winter fun. The northern flowing New River has access points just 28 miles from campus where you can canoe, kayak, and fish year-round. Both east and west from Bluefield, you can hop on the Appalachian Trail to backpack with our Outdoors Club. Then, right on campus, we have a trail that connects to our City Park trail system, creating nearly 15 miles of hiking and biking. Oh yeah, did we mention that we have a cave on campus?
