Meet the Speakers

Ms. Kim Brown

Ms. Brown is President and Owner of the TurnKey KB & Associates, LLC (TurnKey) group based inkim-brown the southwestern region of Virginia. TurnKey is dedicated to fostering and strengthening community partnerships through successful community building grant projects and facilitation of individual and organizational skill development. Ms. Brown’s expertise is in the areas of comprehensive community and organizational needs and resources assessments; development of action and strategic plans and evaluation of evidence based programs and practices. Ms. Brown is a national training facilitator for the evidence-based family strengthening program, Strengthening Families Program (Kumpfer). The Strengthening Families Program model is designed to foster and strengthen sustainable community collaborations and partnerships.

Ms. Brown has presented at statewide conferences in Virginia and North Carolina and has served on the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth Southwest Regional Advisory Board since 2005. Ms. Brown has ten years of experience as the Twin County Prevention Coalition Coordinator. This coalition serves the counties of Carroll, Grayson and the City of Galax, Virginia and promotes grassroots involvement to address community health needs using partnership building methods. Ms. Brown currently directs the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant project for Washington County, Virginia.

Ms. Brown earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Bluefield College and a Master of Science degree in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University located in Beckley, West Virginia.

Ms. Becky Nave

Becky Nave is the Senior Business Trainer for People Incorporated of Virginia. Prior to beingbecky-nave promoted to her current position she served as Business Development Manager, assisting entrepreneurs by providing financial and development services to clients.

Ms. Nave is a skilled trainer with over fifteen years experience working with small businesses. She teaches a variety of workshops on the state and national level which include: Business Basics, Credit Building, Customer Service, Leadership, Marketing, Social Media and Core Four® Business Planning Classes.

Ms. Nave holds a BA in Business Administration from King University, is a Certified Credit Counselor and a Licensed Corporate Coach U Facilitator.

Ms. Pam Necessary

Director of Workforce Services
One Stop Operator
Southwest Virginia

Pamela Necessary became the Director of Workforce Services for the One Stop Operator, Region 1 inpam-necessary June 2012. Ms. Necessary is assigned duties of working with partnering agencies and organizations throughout the region and Commonwealth of Virginia to develop One Stop workforce services and to deliver Workforce Investment Act programs that meet the needs of our regional communities.

Prior to accepting this position, Ms. Necessary served as the One Stop manager for the Bluestone One Stop Workforce Center, Bluefield, Virginia and manager of the Richlands Business Incubator, Richlands, Virginia. She has also served Tazewell County, Virginia and surrounding communities in areas of Emergency Services, Disaster Response, and Economic Development for approximately 15 years. Her work in Emergency Services and Disaster Response earned prestigious awards from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management in 2004 and 2005.

Ms. Necessary is a native of Tazewell, Virginia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management and Leadership in 2009 from Bluefield College, Bluefield Virginia.

Dr. Theresa Turner, CDA, PHR

Vice President/Chief Financial Officer

Dr. Theresa J. A. Turner, CDA, PHR, began her extensive career in finance and human resources intheresa-turner the manufacturing industry as a staff accountant and today is a Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer of Draper Aden Associates, a consulting engineering firm with multiple locations in Virginia. She is a member of their Board of Directors and is on the Executive Committee of the firm.

After completing her Associate Degrees in Accounting and Business Management, Dr. Turner worked in management and accounting positions in the restaurant, retail and manufacturing industries. She later moved to the consulting engineering industry as Director of Finance and Administration for a small firm. While there she became an alumnus of Bluefield College with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management. She earned her MBA and Doctorate of Business from the University of Phoenix and holds certifications as a Design Accountant (CDA) and a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).

Outside of work Dr. Turner is a member of the adjunct faculty at New River Community College where she teaches Business Law. She is a member of Lamplighters, a non-profit group for reading development at Radford City Library.

She was selected as a member of the Montclair Who’s Who in Construction, Design and Engineering 2010-2011 and is a past winner of the National PSMA Human Resources Award.

Ms. Brenda Workman

Admissions Counselor, inSPIRE Program
Bluefield College
Bluefield, Virginia

Brenda has been employed by Bluefield College for the past seven years, serving first as thebrenda-workman-pbwc Coordinator for Bluefield College’s Fine Arts Community School. Her other roles at the college have included serving as a Homeschool Liaison for the Admissions Office, as well as an Office Assistant for the Admissions Office. Currently, Brenda is an admissions counselor for the inSPIRE Program at Bluefield College. She works with adults that want to continue their education, but still need to work at the same time.

Brenda spent 23 years of her life homeschooling her four children, kindergarten through 12th grade. Once her teaching responsibilities were over, Brenda decided to enter the workforce (outside the home). She decided soon thereafter that she wanted to continue her own education. She had received an associate’s degree from Bluefield College 32 years before deciding to work on her bachelor’s degree. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in May of 2012 from Bluefield College’s Inspire Program and is now pursing her master’s degree.

Brenda is active in her church, loves to spend time with her two grandchildren, and enjoys the outdoors.
