Journalism Concentration Overview
As a journalism student you’ll develop the skills necessary to tell a story in any medium through hands-on experience—by writing, editing and designing The Rampage, Bluefield College’s online student newspaper; and through internships at local news organizations. In our Mac Lab you’ll learn how to use professional software that is standard in the industry. You’ll also explore the vital role of the press in a democratic society in classes like Media Law and Media Ethics and contemplate the effects of media in Media and Society. Our experienced faculty will encourage and challenge you as you hone the skills necessary for a successful career in journalism.
