JOB SUMMARY: Bluefield College is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced leader to provide vision, leadership and management of the New Opportunity School for Women and campus community service.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The New Opportunity School for Women (NOSW) is designed to improve the educational, financial and personal circumstances of low-income, under-educated, middle-aged women in the Appalachian region. Bluefield College is a Christ-centered institution and offers over 40 academic programs to traditional and online learners. The campus is located in the scenic Appalachian Mountains of southwest Virginia with online recruitment staff positioned in Roanoke and Richmond. The College is experiencing a growing enrollment and has recently constructed additional residential facilities to accommodate an increasing residence population. Bluefield College is ranked among the top 50 colleges nationwide for overall value, among just 22 colleges in the nation with an “A” rated core curriculum by ACTA, among the Top Tier Colleges in the South by U.S. News & World Report, the 11th most beautiful Christian college campus in America, and among the most Military Friendly Schools by Military Advanced Education.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Promoting the NOSW residential program through spoken and written communications and marketing efforts;
• Raising the required resources of the NOSW program through grant writing and the identification, cultivation and solicitation of individuals and businesses; and
• Promoting awareness of community needs and creating opportunities for service to assist in the development of transformational servant leaders.
The ideal candidate will be a committed Christian who has a heart for helping the disadvantaged and a desire to inculcate a community of service, an appreciation of the small, liberal-arts oriented college, and a good understanding of, and commitment to, the mission of Bluefield College. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for serving others and experience in management, organizational leadership, and relationship-building. The position will require travel.
