JOB SUMMARY: The College of Sciences seeks applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in Psychology, and Department Chair to start August 2018.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Candidates will provide service to Bluefield College, the College of Sciences, and the profession. Specific responsibilities include, overseeing departmental operations; advocating for departmental and college interests; supporting faculty development; executing strategic plans which reinforce the college’s mission and goals; and supporting development of undergraduate and graduate curriculum congruent with CACREP accreditation and state licensure requirements for counselors.
Candidates are also expected to provide face-to-face and online teaching experiences at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Specifically, the successful candidates are expected to provide competency-based education which aligns within the framework of the psychology curricula, promoting and enhancing student success by using contemporary methods of evidence-based pedagogy, and demonstrating the ability to engage students in the learning process.
A doctorate in counseling psychology or related field is required. In addition, this position requires candidates to possess professional licensure in counseling and experience in the development of graduate level counseling programs. Candidates must also have the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, and must possess effective communication skills both verbal and written that will represent Bluefield College and the Psychology program within the community and most importantly to the student and prospective students.
The individual must be a committed Christian and able to integrate faith and learning, foster critical and creative thinking, and work cooperatively within the campus community to advance the mission of the college. The candidate must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
