Assistant or Associate Professor in Biology and Biomedical Sciences

JOB SUMMARY: The College of Sciences at Bluefield College is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in Biology and Biomedical Sciences to start summer 2018.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities will include teaching and advising undergraduates in the College’s BS degree Biology program (Bluefield, VA) and teaching graduate students in the MA degree Biomedical Sciences program (Blacksburg, VA). Candidates will be expected to provide service to Bluefield College, the College of Sciences, and the profession. Specific responsibilities include, providing competency-based education which aligns within the framework of the biology and biomedical science curricula (including but not limited to Epidemiology and Public Health, Nutrition and Research,) promoting and enhancing student success by exhibiting a passion for teaching and students, and demonstrating the ability to engage students in the learning process.

A doctorate in Nutrition, Public Health, Epidemiology or equivalent with evidence of effective teaching is preferred. Candidates must have the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, and must possess effective communication skills both verbal and written that will represent Bluefield College and the Biology and Biomedical Science program within the community and most importantly to the student and prospective students.

The individual must be a committed Christian and have ability to integrate faith and learning, foster critical and creative thinking, work cooperatively within the campus community to advance the mission of the college, and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
