Bluefield College is actively seeking an experienced professional to assume the role of Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). The senior-level position reports to the President and serves on the College Leadership Team.

The main campus is located in Bluefield, Virginia, in the beautiful setting of the Appalachian Mountains. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the College offers baccalaureate degrees in 23 majors of study in a traditional learning environment. The College’s online program offers associate, baccalaureate and Master degree programs for adult learners. The College is working with Tazewell County to establish a School of Dental Medicine.

Bluefield College is actively seeking an experienced educational professional to assume the leadership role of Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the institution and is responsible to the President for providing leadership to faculty and academic staff to ensure consistent quality standards in curriculum and programs that meet the needs of students. The Vice President serves as Dean of the Faculty and presides over the Academic Council. Additionally, this person serves as ex-officio member of all academic committees and councils of the College. The Vice President represents the academic program areas of the College to all constituent groups and serves in the role of chief academic planning officer and ensures compliance with various accreditation agencies, as well as Federal and State regulations. The Vice President serves as a member of the College Leadership Team and attends all Board of Trustees meetings.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to the Christian mission of the College, as well as a commitment to actively promoting its vision, mission, and values; an earned doctorate; significant teaching and administrative experience; demonstrated achievement in teaching at the undergraduate level; be eligible for appointment as a professor in an academic department of the College; appropriate scholarship and publications; understanding of the intricacies of the traditional and online programs; awareness of best practices in online learning platforms; budget management skills; excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to work with administrators, faculty, students, and other constituent groups; and appreciation for shared academic governance.
