Graphic Communication Major Overview

Do you enjoy working with technology and stretching your creativity? Are you interested in designing unique and compelling visual communications?

If so, you’re going to enjoy being a Graphic Communication major!

Small classes with experienced faculty take you step-by-step, helping you advance your skills using powerful computer design programs that are commonly used by professionals. You’ll also explore the history of visual design across cultures for inspiration and a sense of where cutting-edge graphic design may be heading. With internships and an individualized capstone class, you’ll build a quality resume and assemble your work in a unique portfolio. Then, you’ll be ready for an exciting career in graphic design!

Internship experiences are an essential part of the Graphic Communication program that assists students’ transition from the classroom to the professional setting. Students are encouraged to seek full-time internships during the summer or may choose to do one or more part-time, local internships as a part of their semester coursework.

Bluefield College Art Club

Bluefield College Art Club provides opportunities for Art and Graphic Communication majors to work in collaboration on projects, such as murals and art sales. The organization also sponsors social gatherings and culturally enriching trips locally and abroad.

I chose Bluefield College for its small size and warm, Christian environment. The faculty in the Graphic Communication Department go out of their way to make sure you succeed. Working in the Marketing Office was also an enjoyable way to gain great experience!
