inSPIRE Online Degrees Information Session - Galax, VA
Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Coordinator: Brenda Workman ( )
The meeting will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Crossroads Institute’s Higher Education Center, 208 Cranberry Road in Galax, and will be an open house style gathering, allowing prospective students to attend any time during the three-hour session to learn more about BC’s inSPIRE Online Degree Completion Program.
“This will be a come-and-go type meeting,” said Brenda Workman, an admissions counselor for the inSPIRE Program. “Prospective students may stop by any time between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to pick up information about the Online Program or to talk to an admissions counselor.”
Designed to provide working adult students from all walks of life the opportunity to earn an affordable, convenient, accredited degree, BC’s inSPIRE Online Program offers baccalaureate degree opportunities in management and leadership, human services, nursing (RN-to-BSN), and e-business and entrepreneurship.
“Bluefield College’s online inSPIRE Program has the working adult in mind,” said Workman, “with degree programs offered 100 percent online and structured to provide students with all the necessary knowledge and skills for the job they want to pursue or the promotion they want to obtain.”
In keeping with a liberal arts education, the curriculum emphasizes a broad array of perspectives. Classes are delivered in an online format with close contact with professors who genuinely care about the students in the classroom. All faculty members possess a combination of academic credentials, practical experience in the field, and a commitment to the Christian heritage of the college.
“If you’re looking for an online college where you will receive personal attention from your professors, look no further,” said Workman. “Unlike most for-profit schools, Bluefield has a small student to teacher ratio (11:1).”
Classes are offered in an online eight-week course format with lecture videos available for viewing on desktop computers, Internet TVs and mobile devices. In addition, online discussion boards and virtual classrooms allow students to receive the same caliber of education enjoyed by traditional on campus students.
“This program is very doable for a working adult, offering two classes at a time for an eight-week session,” said Workman. “When those eight weeks are up, the next two classes start. If you don’t have any college credit, Bluefield College also offers the general education classes online that you will need.”
Bluefield College also has an articulation agreement with the Virginia Community College System, meaning all Virginia community college students with an associate of art or associate of science degree and a grade point average of 2.5 or better receive automatic admission into BC’s Online Program with credit for all of the college’s general education requirements, except two for Christian studies.
