When and where is the ceremony?
The faculty and staff of Bluefield College are proud to invite you, your family, and guests to attend the May Commencement for the Spring 2013 graduating class scheduled for Saturday, May 4th at 10 a.m. in the Quad. Please refer to our web site for driving directions and a map of the campus: www.bluefield.edu/map.
Graduates should report to Lansdell Hall no later than 8:45 a.m. on May 4th. Family and guests should be directed to the Quad. The commencement ceremony will last approximately two hours.
What if it rains?
The Bluefield College Commencement is scheduled as an outdoor event for Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., on the Bluefield campus. To ensure a festive occasion, rain or shine, the College has developed an inclement weather plan. If the forecast calls for inclement weather, a decision will be made Friday morning to move the ceremony indoors. Notification will be sent to graduates via their Bluefield College email by 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013.
In case of inclement weather, each graduate will be issued six tickets for friends & family to watch the commencement exercises inside Harman Chapel. Tickets will be issued to graduates during rehearsal on Friday, May 3, 2013. Tickets will only be required if commencement is moved indoors. If commencement is outdoors, a ticket will not be required.
The Commencement Rehearsal is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd in the Quad. All graduates participating in the ceremony are required to attend rehearsal. Any exceptions to this requirement must be cleared through the Registrar’s Office.
Some hotels may offer discounts if you mention that you are coming for Bluefield College Graduation. When making your travel plans, you should plan to arrive in time to participate in the Rehearsal at 2:30 on Friday, May 3rd. A list of local area hotels is attached below for your convenience.
