Alumni Choir Reunion
Friday, March 16, 2012 - Sunday, March 18, 2012
Location: Bluefield College - View in Google Maps
Registration: Register for this event
The Office of Alumni Relations and the Music Department invite former BC music students to participate in an Alumni Choir Reunion, Friday through Sunday, March 16-18.
In the past this event has been an event held over Homecoming weekend. As the event has grown through the years, we decided a separate reunion weekend would finally be possible. This will be a weekend to reunite and reminisce with former classmates, laugh and make music, and enjoy a short time back at your alma mater.
This year's reunion will honor Professor Bryant Moxley. Professor Moxley, who serves as head of the Department of Music, is celebrating his 10th anniversary of teaching at Bluefield College. For the past 10 years, he has dedicated himself to music not only at Bluefield College, but in the local community and the state. At BC, he has directed Variations, Bluefield Singers, Praise Singers, the BC Orchestra, and the BC Concert Band. Off campus, he has directed the Virginia Baptist Men's Chorale and serves as minister of music at First Baptist Church of Bluefield and board member for Blue Mountain Performing Arts.
Below is a complete schedule for the Alumni Choir Reunion weekend. We hope you will be able to join us for the entire weekend or even just a day.
To make your reservations or for more informtion, contact Alumni Director Joshua D. Cline (’09) by e-mail at or by phone at 276-326-4208 or Moxley by e-mail at or by phone 276-326-4248. You may also may your reservations by visiting the Alumni Choir Reunion Facebook page.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What about my spouse?
Your spouse or significant other is more than welcome to sing with us if they are musical. If not, they are welcome to “hang out” around campus (Library, SAC, campus nature trail, etc.) or to take in all of the amenities of the Bluefields!
2. What about my children?
If there is enough interest we will organize youth from area churches to provide childcare. We only request that you give some donation to the youth group of the church who will be doing this project as a fundraiser. Of course, your child is welcome to stay with you in rehearsal if you like, it won’t bother the director! If you prefer to have your spouse care for your child but need a child-friendly space please let me know. I anticipate using the facilities of FBC for all of the childcare needs. My goal is to do whatever is needed to help you participate and have a great experience!
3. Who can attend?
Anyone who considers themselves an alum/friend of the BC Music Department is encouraged to attend. Whatever era, whatever ensemble, whatever your major—if you participated in music at BC we want you attend and to bring your college friends. Please help spread the word. Despite our best efforts someone might not be invited unless you contact them. Only you can persuade your circle of friends to participate!
4. What will we wear for the concert?
Concert Black — Men- Dark Suits with ties; Ladies- Black dress/skirts etc.
Variations will be performing alone and with the Alumni Reunion Chorus wearing their typical concert dress.
5. Can I just show up without Pre-Registration?
Yes, but it will be a big help to us to have your reservations so we can have enough copies of the music and enough food. Obviously, we can’t provide childcare without your Pre-Registration. Perhaps the biggest issue with an unexpected registration is that despite every effort to select a good date, we recently learned that the traditional April date for the Bristol NASCAR race is now scheduled for this same weekend. Every hotel room will be occupied. Fortunately, Josh Cline has done outstanding work securing a block of rooms at the former Holiday Inn, now Quality Inn and Comfort Inn at a reasonable rate despite the NASCAR conflict. We cannot hold those rooms until the day of unless you pre-register and if you not be able to find a room that weekend without a reservation.
