Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) Degree Overview
The proposed School of Dental Medicine will graduate general dentists who are well-prepared to enter the independent practice of general dentistry or be competitive for additional training in general dentistry or the dental specialties. The focus of the School will be on training graduates to provide care for the underserved areas of southwestern Virginia and the contiguous Appalachian region. Training will be conducted at our state-of-the-art building located at The Bluestone as well as at community health centers throughout the region.
Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) Degree Internships
Students will be provided a variety of volunteer service opportunities at Mission of Mercy clinics, other local outreach programs, and in international dental mission projects.

Students will be able to provide dental care in a variety of settings from standard private dental offices to clinics to locations where the use of portable dental equipment will be the norm.
