Welcome to BC Giving Day!

On April 26, alumni, friends and the BC family are encouraged to give back to Bluefield College during the 24-hour marathon of #bcgivingday. Alumni and friends give because they believe in Bluefield College. Every gift matters and no matter the size makes a significant impact.

#bcgivingday is so important that we decided it needed to happen on Mud Pig Day. That's right, April 26 is #bcgivingday and #mudpigday. You believe in Bluefield College and the difference it made in your life, so on April 26 make a gift to Bluefield College, tell the world about #bcgivingday, and encourage your friends to do the same. You may even get the chance to explain #mudpigday to someone.

The Challenges

  1. Your generosity has double the impact: Alumnus Garry Jones ('74) has generously agreed to match every gift dollar for dollar up to $10,000 for #bcgivingday. Garry hopes that this challenge will inspire new alumni donors to join in and show their love for their alma mater.
  2. Now and all day on #bcgivingday: President David Olive has agreed that when we hit $20,000 in gifts and pledges on #bcgivingday he will slide down the #mudpigday slide (see video). Don’t worry if you can’t make it to campus to watch Dr. Olive go down the slide, because we will be broadcasting the event live on Facebook. Be sure to give and to give generously to #bcgivingday, because we all want to see Dr. Olive on the #mudpigday slide.
  3. From 12:01 a.m. on #bcgivingday until the first 25 gifts of $50 or more are received: Alumni David Bailey ('60) and Jack Marcom ('62) donated tickets to see Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals host the Atlanta Braves, but only if 25 donors give at least $50 or more each when #bcgivingday begins on April 26. The first 25 donors to give $50 or more will be entered into a drawing for the two tickets to the game, which takes place on July 21. Dr. Bailey's challenge activates only when 25 gifts are made, so tell your classmates to give.
  4. From 3 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. on #bcgivingday: All gifts from graduates from the past 10 years will be matched dollar for dollar up to $500 during this timeframe. So, if you graduated anytime from 2008 to 2017, be sure to take advantage of the Young Alum Challenge to get your gift doubled.
