Richard Morgan, a coach with more than a decade of experience at the NCAA level, a player with a decorated career in the AAC, and an individual with roots in Virginia as a standout athlete at Salem High School enters into his second year as Head Coach of the Rams.

Morgan who came to BC after a three- year stint as an assistant coach at Appalachian State University, a Division I member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). While at ASU, Morgan helped coach the Mountaineers to a school record 25 wins in a season (2007), a National Invitational Tournament Appearance (2007), and back-to-back Southern Conference Championships (2007-2008).

Before Appalachian State, Morgan served three years as an associate head coach at Hampton University of the NCAA’s Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). At Hampton, he helped lead the Pirates to back-to-back conference championships (2005-2006), a MEAC Conference Tournament title (2006), and an NCAA Tournament Appearance (2006). His stint at Hampton was the second of his career after serving as an assistant on the Pirates’ bench from 1996-98.

Prior to returning to Hampton, Morgan spent five seasons (1998-2003) as an assistant at East Carolina University. A native of Salem, Virginia, he began his coaching career at Salem High School, his alma mater, where he helped lead his team to district, regional, and state championships and also served as a paraprofessional for special education programs.

Morgan joined the coaching profession after an extremely successful career as both a professional and collegiate player. He was the three- year starter at guard for the University of Virginia, where he finished his career ranked sixth all-time in steals with 160. Following the 1988-89 season, Morgan earned first team All- AAC honors and was named Honorable Mention All- America after leading the Cavaliers to an appearance in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

After graduating from UVA in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management, Morgan played professionally for two seasons with the Rockford Lightening and the Columbus Horizon of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and overseas with teams in Austria, Honduras, and the Philippines.

Under Morgan’s first season as head coach, the Rams finished as AAC Regular Season Champions and with a 16-14 overall record and with an 11-5 record in the AAC. The Rams also played in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Mid- East Regionals where they beat Covenant College. They then played against King College in the NCCAA Semi- Finals where they fell short with an 96-68 score to end the 2009-2010 season.

Morgan and his wife, Sherelle, whose family is from Martinsville, Virginia, have two sons Nicholas, 11, and Kaleb, 6.

Former NCAA All American point guard from East Tennessee State University joins the BC staff as the junior varsity head coach as well as the top assistant varsity coach.

Jennings spent the  2008-2009 season as an assistant coach at Tennessee powerhouse Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN where helped guide them to a 31-5 record. Jennings spent the previous three years as the head boy's varsity basketball coach at Highland School in Warrenton, VA.

He also had a brief stint as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, ETSU while completing his degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.

"Mister" Jennings' playing career is very impressive including winning the 1991 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, given to the most outstanding collegiate senior six feet tall and under. He also led the NCAA Division I that year in three-point field goals, shooting 59 percent.

Jennings spent three seasons in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors (1992-1995) averaging 6.6 points and 3.7 assists per game. He was also selected by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 expansion draft. Jennings played professionally in Europe and gained honorable titles such as winning the MVP in the French 1st Division twice.

Jennings is originally from Culpepper, VA and is married to wife Rachel and has two kids, Kaycee and Keith Jr.

Derrick Price



Assistant Coach/1st Season

Derrick Price enters his first season as an assistant coach for the RAMS.

 

Price is originally from Philadelphia, PA where he played high school basketball, as a former player for the RAMS, he led the team to a trip to the National Tournament for the 2001 – 2002 season. As a senior in 2002 Price also celebrated a Conference Championship and was named First Team all AAC.

 

Price earned a B.S in Computer Technology in 2002 at Bluefield College.

 

Price joins the RAMS immediately after ending 4 year tenure with Bluefield Middle School, where he served as Head Coach. Coach Price loves to participate in the community where he stepped into a leadership role coaching at the recreational center for 5 years. He also competes over the summer in various AAU tournaments for the youth. He brings a very competitive source of coaching experience to the staff.

 

Coach Price wants to send a special thanks to his mother Sharon Price who has supported him every step of the way. “My mom is my backbone, she’s my Hero”. She is the type of woman that would do anything for her kids. She is the type of mother that would go without to provide for the family. Coach Price also has a son Derrick Price Jr and a host of family and friends that he wants to thank for being very supportive, especially his old brother Ronnie Price.
