Bluefield, Virginia- The women's soccer team and head coach Samantha Snow sign three new players as part of her 2012 signing class. Early verbal commitments from the three players has given Snow the opportunity reach out and find more quality newcomers alongside the ones who have already signed.
The first signing is Courtnie Adams from Dallas, Georgia. Courtnie plays club soccer for West Metro Soccer Club and has been a Varsity starter for North Paulding High School all four years of high school. She is a solid center back and comes to Bluefield College highly recommended by her high school and club coaches. Courtnie also volunteers within her community by coaching a U10 girls team at West Metro and helps coach soccer to disabled children in the TOP Soccer Program.
Coach Samantha Snow had this to say about her new defender, "I am very excited to have Courtnie joining our program- she will bring a strong, physical presence to our back line and is a great leader on the field."
The second signing is Kori Koerwitz from Las Vegas, Nevada. She is a left-footed, outside back and will bring more speed and athleticism to our back line. Kori is also a competitive cheerleader and will be a very athletic addition to our squad. I am very happy to have Kori playing for us next fall as she will make an immediate impact within our squad. Kori is coming to BC as the 'second' Koerwitz, as her brother Tyler plays for the men's program.
The third signing is Jessica Newman from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Jessica plays club soccer for the VA Rush Nike ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) Team. Jessica is another outside back with a great deal of speed and athleticism. She is an excellent defender who loves to attack out of the back. Jess has played in many high level games, coming from the ECNL, and will bring ‘big-game’ experience to our team. Jess is also an active youth soccer coach and referee in her community.
The 'boost' in the women's back four will be a huge addition for the 2012 season and beyond especially with the move to the Mid-South Conference. The speed and athleticism of all three signees will add huge depth to the roster.
Stay tuned for more players joining the women's team in the coming months.
