Women's soccer loses tight game at Emory and Henry 1-0 By Sports Information Department BC | September 5, 2011 | RSS Bluefield College Athletics Sports Information Department Bluefield, Virginia Emory, Virginia- The Lady Rams traveled to Emory and Henry on Thursday evening to take on the Wasps, a ODAC member and NCAA Division III program. Bluefield would be narrowly defeated 1-0 away from home in a tough away match for Coach Snow's side. The Lady Rams outshot the Wasps eight to seven, but couldn't find the back of the net. Junior midfielder Kellie Flaherty put Emory & Henry on the board in the 36th minute when she floated a shot from 30 yards out past the BC keeper, which panned out to be E+H's only real threat on goal. Pip Pattison led the way for Bluefield with four shots including two on frame. Pip had a great chance off a corner from Taylor Stynes that hit the post and Braley Freire hit the crossbar. Courtney Bell forced a great save from a breakaway. Bluefield was encouraged by its ability to connect passes and staying organized defensively. Tracy Muncy snagged five saves despite taking the loss in goal. "We played as a team for 90 minutes tonight," head coach Samantha Snow said. "We looked the best we have all season, but we must finish our chances if we want to put teams away; especially when we play so well defensively." The Lady Rams will be on the road once again this week as they travel to Roanoke to play Hollins University. Kickoff is set for 4:00pm on Tuesday.
