Two Lady Rams Named to NAIA- Scholar Athlete List December 8, 2010 | RSS Alyssa Weddle, a senior was named on the NAIA scholar athlete list. Ashley Strickland, a junior was named to the NAIA scholar athlete list. Bluefield, VA—Two Bluefield College Lady Rams volleyball players earned a spot on the NAIA- Volleyball Scholar Athlete list. Alyssa Weddle and Ashley Strickland earned two spots out of the 387 student athletes named on the list. Weddle, an outside hitter from Carroll County, Virginia is a senior at Bluefield College. Weddle has a 3.7 GPA and has also been named on the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Academic Team. After college Weddle plans to get her masters in Occupational Therapy. She is the daughter of Jeff and Trina Weddle. Ashley Strickland is an outside hitter and defensive specialist from Carroll County, Virginia. Strickland was also named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Academic Team. Strickland is an exercise and sports science major who will also get her teachers licensure. Strickland is also involved in the Student Union Board (SUB). Strickland is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Strickland. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) honors student athletes who are of junior academic standing and have an average of a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Each recipient has been nominated by their head coach.
