Bluefield, Virginia- The men's soccer program is proud to announce the first wave of signings for its 2012 signing class to compete for the first-time ever in the Mid-South Conference in the NAIA's division one.
Leading the way, Bluefield will look to anchor its backline with the signing of defender Nick Rivadeneira from Kendall, Florida. Rivadeneira, a Kendall Soccer Coalition member, brings a wealth of experience from the #1 club in Florida. Kendall SC is an elite member of the US Soccer Developmental Academy.
Rivadeneira has not only been an integral part of Kendall's program, but he has also been an impact player in a competitive high school league at Miami Killian High School. He has been a part of a program who has won two district titles and been a state semifinalist for two of his seasons. He was named to the Miami-Herald First Team All-District team in the 2010-2011 season.
Bluefield also adds a second Academy-level player from Houston, Texas, Erik Albarran. The crafty, technical left-footed midfielder will bring high level experience and a boost into the Bluefield attack when moving forward.
Albarran, a standout for the Texans Soccer Club in Houston, is excited about his opportunity to play against some of top collegiate programs in the nation in 2012. At the Texans- who are ranked the #7-best soccer club in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.com- Albarran played quality minutes for the Developmental Academy team in many of the nation's premier tournaments this past season.
The midfielder has also had a successful high school career at Cypress Ridge High School in Houston, Texas.
"These two players will bring immediate high-level experience to our program," added Head Coach Peter Dryer. "From the moment we saw both Nick and Erik play with us, both Coach Neidig and I knew we wanted to bring them into our program. Moving into a conference such as the Mid-South, they will bring us to a level we need to compete, and win, against the nation's best."
