Thought of the Day: You are Blessed By Tori Doyle | March 26, 2014 | RSS Almost every day we each experience something we don’t want. Possibly you’re boyfriend or girlfriend of three years broke up with you. That’s heartbreaking. Maybe you bombed a test or had a horrible practice or game in whatever sport you play. I’ve been there, and I know it stinks. We can go deeper. You could be having serious family or financial issues, or have lost a loved one. Those things really hurt and are so hard to come through. You’re not the only one. These things are a part of life as much as that hurts to know. As you go through difficult times, have you ever tried remembering that you are blessed? If you’re reading this, you are a student at Bluefield College and you are working towards a degree. You have this opportunity, so when you graduate, you can go find a job to make a living for yourself. There are so many people that don’t get this chance. You also have a place to live, food to eat (even though it may not be your first choice), and clothes to wear to your classes. You have access to technology and books—yes books are a blessing whether you think so or not. I’m not saying that you could not have been through some extremely challenging times in your life, but what matters is where you are now. You have the opening right now to do something with yourself. Before you go Tweet on Twitter “today is the worst and my life stinks,” because you failed a test or got hurt in your game, remember that you’re still here. That is a lot more than many people can say. There are many people out there struggling to survive because they don’t have a place to live or food to eat. As you go through each day, think about what you currently have and be grateful. It’s not easy, because we want to dwell on what we don’t have or what is wrong in our lives. Even I complain too much sometimes, but remember these three words everyday: you are blessed.
