The SAC Is Back December 5, 2010 | RSS Several renovations have transformed Bluefield College's hang-out spot that most students refer to as the SAC. Marland Funk, a BC senior who has worked in the SAC at the Starbucks brewery for three years, says the renovations began in September and are still yet to be finished.Funk said the big changes consisted of putting in hard wood floors for half the area, laying new carpet on the other half, building a wall to separate Starbucks from the game area, constructing a small stage in a designated corner, painting the wall behind Starbucks, and adding advertising signs. "Ever since the renovations it has brought more people to SAC and also more business for the Starbucks," said Funk. Students have really seemed to enjoy the positive changes in the SAC and having the game area separated from the other things available has been a good setup so far, said Funk. "I believe the renovations have really contributed to a stronger atmosphere in which the Bluefield College students can interact with each other in a fun and exciting way," said sophomore Britny Paynter. "I think the changes have been a big improvement, it feels more comfortable and I think students spend a lot more time hanging out in the SAC now," said sophomore Jessica Polite. The SAC renovations were financed by a donation from trustees who insisted the money be dedicated to the SAC. The final renovations are anticipated to be done by next semester.
