
Students Earn Academic Honors
Bluefield College recognized dozens of outstanding students for academic excellence during its year-end Honors Convocation, April 25.

Each spring, the college acknowledges academic achievement among its students through the capstone awards program. In welcoming students to this year’s ceremony, President David Olive spoke about the significance of the day.
“This is a special day in the life of Bluefield College as we recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship,” said Dr. Olive. “It is a highlight of the academic year, a day in which we all should be proud.”

- Trey Wilson of Portsmouth, VA: Rampage Student Newspaper Sportswriting Award.
Fourteen additional students were recognized as a group for their 2012 induction into the school’s Alph Chi National Honor Society. Twenty-six business students in the school’s Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) business club were acknowledged together for winning 34 awards during PBL state competition. Nine business students were recognized as a group for induction into the Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society.
Eight fine arts students were acknowledged as a group for their induction into the BC chapter of Kappa Pi International Honorary Art Fraternity. Three English students were named as a group for their inclusion in the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. And, three social science students were recognized as a group for their induction into the Psi Chi Honor Society.
