Rams remain perfect in Mid-South By Rudy Roediger | September 23, 2012 | RSS PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Bluefield College Volleyball swept a pair of matches on the day, defeating the Eagles of Midway College in three sets, 25-10, 25-20, 25-20 before sweeping a Mid-South Conference match against the Bears of Pikeville, 25-13, 25-17, 25-16. Jasmine Morrow paced the Rams with double-digit kills in each match. (MC Box | PC Box) Senior Cheznee Daily contributed with an all-around effort of two kills, 24 assists and six digs in the opening match against Midway. Morrow led the team with 12 kills on 28 attempts while Colby Combs added 10 kills and 12 digs. Four Rams had five or more digs led by Anna Church’s 15. Bluefield took a commanding 25-10 victory in the first set but the Rams and Eagles battled back and forth in the second and third sets with BC taking identical 25-20 victories to secure the three set sweep over Midway. In the second match of the day and first against a Mid-South Conference opponent, Amber Taylor-Inge tied a season-high 11 kills hitting a strong .444 percent on 18 attacks against Pikeville. Jasmine Morrow had an all-around performance with a team leading 14 kills to go along with 11 digs and a pair of blocks. Emily Smith had a career match with a team best 14 digs against the Bears. The sophomore from Fincastle, Va., led five players with seven or more digs. The Rams took a commanding lead in each set and never looked back winning 25-13, 25-17, 25-16 to improve to 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference. The Rams play the University of Rio Grande on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Dome Gymnasium in what will be the third Mid-South Conference game of the season for both squads. The Rams sit at a perfect 2-0 in the MSC while RedStorm sits at an even 1-1.
