Rams Men's Soccer snag experienced GK for 2011 Fall Season June 9, 2011 | RSS Bluefield Rams Athletics Official Release Bluefield College Bluefield, Virginia Bluefield Men's Soccer program inks GK Jefferson Watson for upcoming 2011 Season The Bluefield Rams Men's Soccer program continues to add not only experience to its exisiting lineup, but also some much needed depth with the official announcement of GK Jefferson Watson joining the Men's Soccer team in the Fall 2011. Watson was a four-year athlete at Christ Chapel Academy in Woodbridge, Virginia, where he earned Team MVP and also participated in varsity baseball and basketball. GK Watson joins 2011 Rams Roster He will be transferring from Valley Forge Christian College after spending one year at the institution. His experience at the club level started very early in his childhood, as he started play at PSWI Club. Currently, Jefferson plays for Gunston Soccer Club in the NCSL Division 1 coached by Roger Wimmer. Jeff was also selected to play with the VA Northern District ODP in 2007 & 2008. "Jefferson brings a dominating-style personality, very fitting for the GK role", added Head Coach Pete Dryer. "His experience on the ODP level will also bring an extra level of experience and talent to our team." In 2010, the Rams gave up 57 goals by their opponents, therefore it is certain that Watson will be looking to fight for the time on the pitch between the posts in 2011. And Men's Assistant, Chase Neidig, would be the first to agree on it. "No one has the starting role for any starting 11 positions. Watson brings athleticism that is second-to-none. He will definitely compete in pre-season to get minutes on the pitch." The Rams open up pre-season training at the beginning of August, ahead of several key non-conference games early in the season.
