Bluefield, VA-- The Rams won a huge conference game in the dome on a snowy Wednesday night, beating Union College 90-73 in the dome.


Borgia M'bala led the Rams in scoring with 27 points in the victory.

The snow may have pushed up the start time for the Rams but they were ready to play Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Union, the Rams (7-10) were down by one point leading into halftime 40-39. The Rams scored a remarkable 51 points in the second half out shooting Union College.


Borgia M'bala was the leading scorer for the Rams scoring 27 points. The junior from Paris, France was 7- for- 15 inside and was 5-for-11 in three pointers. He was also a perfect 7- for-7 in free throws with four rebounds in the victory.


Also leading the Rams charge on the court was Byron Carpenter who scored 19 points for the Rams. Carpenter was 7- for- 15 inside and was 5- for-6 in free throws and scored a team high in rebounds with 12 in the game with four assists.


Senior Rob Wright also had double digit points for the Rams. Wright had 10 points in the win and was 3- for- 9 inside and 4-for- 5 in three pointers with two rebounds and two assists. The team also had a trio of men who shot eight points each for the Rams; Egor Shakhmetov, Jewaun Wynn, and Brian Daniels.


Leading the Union team on the court was Turrell Morris who had 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs with Payton Ponzer adding on 13 points for the team.


The Rams were shooting 47% inside, 42% in three pointers, and 75% in free throws. The Rams will continue with three more conference games in the next two weeks.


They will travel to Tennessee Wesleyan College on Saturday with a 4:00 pm start time. The Rams will return home for two conference games against Virginia Intermont on Wednesday, January 19 at 7:30 pm and Bryan College on Saturday January 22 with a 4:00 start time in the dome.
